"There is a vitality, a life force, an energy, a quickening, that is translated through you into action, and because there is only one of you in all time, this expression is unique. And if you block it, it will never exist through any other medium and will be lost." - Martha Graham
Online Ads Expected to Outstrip Offline Ads By 2010
by Cynthia Lee
Seth Sutel of the Associated Press reports that Veronis Suhler Stevenson, a media investment firm, published a research study on August 7 that predicts that U.S. consumers will continue their shift away from mainstream advertising-supported media (such as newspapers, magazines and radio stations) to customer-funded entertainment providers such as the Internet, video games and cable TV.
The Veronis Suhler Steveson study anticipates that total Internet advertising will grow an average of 21 percent through 2011. That means overall online ad spending will reach $54 billion in 2010 and overtake print-only newspaper advertising as the largest category of advertising.
In colloquial terms this means that when it comes to the growth, influence and profit potential of the Internet, "you ain't seen nuthin' yet." Stay in the cyber-saddle friends and colleagues; you're going to be in for quite a ride.
Blogs, podcasts, social networking, animated "talking heads," audio and video communications everywhere online, including the still fairly new Squidoo lenses, have become so widespread so quickly that it's difficult to assess their impact, far less anticipate what other developments and surprises the "world wide web" has in store for us in the years to come.
Just buckle on your seatbelt, relax and enjoy being part of the most sophisticated, fastest-moving, fastest-growing communications and connection system ever devised by humanity.
It may be your workplace, where you slog away, advertising your home business programs, seeking fame, fortune or a supplementary income, but the Internet is also a fabulous play-place. Relax a little, take time to play, frolic, explore and have fun on the Internet. You'll find this enables you to return to your home business projects with renewed enthusiasm.
