Profile of Bryan Hedges, CEO, Unific Traders
A passionate philanthropist and seasoned Internet marketer who lives in Australia, Bryan Hedges is more interested in telling you how much money he gave away than how much money he made with his Internet programs.
With charitable contributions totalling more than $200,000 over the past five years, Bryan admits that "It's easy to get so carried away with helping others that it can weaken your own situation. Now we are following a much more conservative, tough love approach."
In addition to helping those in need, Bryan likes to train and empower those he works with, "lighting fires in their souls" and spurring them to seek--and achieve--their dreams. He notes that "these days I tend to work for my downline. If they are making a good income, my own income takes care of itself."
A self-proclaimed "dinosaur" who remembers the early days of multi-level marketing more than 25 years ago, Bryan experienced a couple of decades of adventures and misadventures in network marketing before starting his own business, Success Team International (STI) , in 2000.
Bryan says that STI is "basically just a feeder program. We designed our program to make sure that 'no one can lose' so long as they are members with valid email addresses and a current payment option."
He is proud of the fact that "we have overcome many challenges that have seen thousands of other businesses fold up and go away. Things like hackers getting into our system, software crashes, e-currency crises, crashes and scams, liars, cheats, thieves, erratic growth and more."
In 2004, he and his partners decided it was time to formalize the business and they became Unific Traders, with STI being one of the two programs they managed. The other program is Unified Gold. With Unified Gold, an STI member can make a $100 deposit on $750 worth of gold and pay off the contract via sales and leverage.
The son of an English Romany Gypsy father and a blueblood English mother, Bryan was brought up in New Zealand and grew up with the native Maori. He says that, among the Maori, "everyone has value to the tribe and family and everyone's work is respected and helps the tribe."
"I was strongly influenced by my contact with the Maori," he adds. "They were focused on cooperation and the collective good and not on individualism and competition. It was all about 'we' instead of all about 'me.' We could do with some more of that in our society."
In 1980 Bryan moved to Australia. He says that "back then, Austrailia was to New Zealanders what the U.S. is to Mexicans; a land of immense economic opportunity." His offline career includes many years in sales in the monument and funeral industries.
Bryan's decades of offline and online sales, marketing and networking experience have given him some hard-won wisdom and assurance regarding how to achieve success as a network marketer and netpreneur:
Here are some of Bryan's "Tips for Success:"
-- "Anybody who is successful usually fails a lot If Thomsas Edison had given up before his 9,000th try re: electricity, we'd all be watching TV in the dark."
-- "We need to develop a relationship with people if we are going to work with them. Throwing a bunch of emails at people and throwing a lot of money at a program is not going to cut it. You have to build relationships."
-- "Develop multiple streams of income. Ten streams of $100 are better than one stream of $1,000. Having thousands of dollars stream in every week from different sources is a great feeling and also provides some real financial security.
-- "We need to strive to be more not have more. It's really not about being bigger and better consumers who first get and then spend lots of money on fancy clothes, sports cars, mansions and luxury travel. I drive a 2000 Model Ford and it does everything I want it to and I pay just $400 a year in insurance. There is such a thing as enough."
-- "Who you are and what you believe have everything to do with what you achieve. And that includes your religious or spiritual beliefs and practices. Feed your soul. Go beyond goal-setting and affirmations and ask for inner of divine guidance."
-- "Co-operation is a better way to go than competition. Joint ventures, partnerships and mutual support and respect open the doors to many great achievements. We have enjoyed working with Bret Littlewood of Mentors4Profit. He is a true team player, and that's what we look for in our partners. We don't want to have to deal with people with egos the size of ostrich eggs, no matter how many followers they claim they can bring into a program."
